Inspired by Lisa Vollrath's Glue Books http://www.lisavollrath.com/pages/95 - I have begun my own glue book. I am intending to do at least one page a day. These are collages made from newspapers, magazines, flyers and junk mail.
I like the idea of doing glue books! My purse is full of stuff collected from my travels such as receipt slips, business cards, pamphlets picked up everywhere! Yes indeed, it would be a good way to keep a journal of sorts and perhaps add paint or colored pencil around or over items.
This is wonderful Megan. I now understand that what I have done with a lot of people is 'Glue Books'. The distinction Lisa makes is very clear. Now that I know what to call them I feel very comfortable with saying that I make glue books and will happily send glue book pages to people. This way I don't feel that I have to display any 'techniques' which I am not so good at.
I think this is also why I don't do artistic trading cards. They require skills which I don't have yet. This is not to say that I will never do them.
My favourite glue books were the ones I made in Europe. I glued all sorts of things into visual journals and have wonderful memories.
Now to check out Lisa's site. I must make sure to put good links to her in the Visual Journal Lounge here at Soul Food. It does need updating again.
The Soul Food Hermitage Store is the place where travellers, who plan to travel lightly, can stop to buy some supplies. The Messenger and Tote bags are perfect
for carrying your journal, scissors, glue and pens. Buy one and you will be ready to write anywhere, be it at the local coffee shop or while waiting for an appointment.
The Lemurian Playmates are a group who met in Nina’s Tree House and decided to work on Mail Art, Altered Books, Artistic Trading Cards and other art forms.
